2.1 First of all, I would like to say that my L2 podcasting handbook will be my script. I decided to do my podcast and cover all the requirements at the same time. (20sec) (2.4)
2.2 My target audience probably will be students age 18 - 25 and other people who are interesting in Media Industry, podcasting and maybe some students from my course, if they will be interesting in my podcasting and of course in topics that I am talking about. (30sec) (2.4)
1.1 Evaluate the software and hardware requirements for publishing a podcast.
To create a podcast you need to use different softwares and hardwares. Firstly you need to have a computer, microphone, speakers, Internet, headphones and Logic Pro program. This program (Logic Pro) to me was really amazing for making a podcast. It was easy to use, I found everything what I was looking for. All the editing process was very interesting and simple. I did not found any problems when I was using Logic Pro program, I think, that this is a perfect program for making a podcast. (2min) (2.4)
1.2 Assess how broadcast laws have the potential impact of a podcast
MCPS- the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) are an organization who pay royalties to composers, songwriters and music publishers when the music they have created is sold. This includes sales of the music alone such as CDs and downloads, and also products which use the music as a part of their soundtrack, such as films and computer games. (1min) (2.4)
PRS- is a UK copyright collection society and performance rights organisation undertaking collective rights management for musical works. (10sec) (2.4)
If you will put a copyrighted material on a podcast , I think that you need to pay a penalty, because it is against the law to use a copyrighted material.(10sec) (2.4)
1.3 Subscribe to a selection of existing podcasts
As you can see in my Blog page I subscribed Daily Bacon, Love Bollywood, Jo Whiley, Toby Foster at Breakfast and few more podcasts. (10sec) (2.4)
1.4 Evaluate the content of selected podcast
Daily Bacon- The best interviews and chat from Richard Bacon's afternoon program on BBC Radio 5 live. Featuring a broad variety of guests from the fields of news, sport and entertainment.
I like- environment and level of sound, because you can understand very clearly everything.
I do not like- the topics, because it was a bit boring to listen it. (30sec) (2.4)
Love Bollywood- Interviews with the big stars and celebrities from the world of Bollywood, plus the latest news and your film review.
I like- the topics, because it is interesting to listen discussions.
I do not like- music that they play. (20sec) (2.4)
Toby Foster at Breakfast- Toby gives you laugh out loud moments as he makes his way through life in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. He's not known as one of the country's top stand up comedians for nothing.
I like- all the topics were really nice and interesting.
I do not like- sometimes environment doesn't sound nice. (30sec) (2.4)
All these podcasts was well recorded and as I said sound levels was good and it was clear to listen. When you listen you can feel what emotions person has, good or bad. So, in my opinion it is really amazing, that you can create your own environment while listen a podcast. I listened some podcasts when not only one person is talking, but two or more and usually is an interview and you can easily tell if person is nervous when he is been interviewed. (1min) (2.4)
I think, that all people knew what they are talking about, because they had a specific topic and they just had to cover one topic. I tried to download podcast, but I could not because it is stream able, and I can listen it online, but not download to my PC. (30sec) (2.4)
In this podcast I tried to cover 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.1 and 2.2. The rest of my requirements I will write in my Blog account. Thanks for listening. (30sec) (2.4)
2.4 Create a timetable or running order
2.5 Evaluate the planning process
In my opinion is it very good idea to have the planning process. I will plan how I will divide my time when I will record my podcast. However, I am not sure that my timing will be the same as I planned, because I will need to edit my podcast and cut some bits that I do not like it. I also did not think about music yet, and this thing can change the way I already planned running order, my podcast probably will be longer with music. I estimated time of my podcast and it should be about 5 min.
3.1 Demonstrate competent use of podcasting equipment and software
3.2 Use appropriate equipment and software to record a podcast
To create my podcast I was using hardwares such as: headphones, microphone, computer, mouse, speakers. Software like Logic Pro, Internet Explorer, Google, Blog page.
2.4 Create a timetable or running order
3.3 Edit the podcast
This is the evidence of my editing process:
When I was doing editing process I used lots of fades as you can see and I also cut some bits of my podcast.
4.2 Evaluate final podcast
The most important thing in the end of my podcast is evaluation. It is the step when I need to see good things in my podcast and compare it with different podcast that I listened. This time I will compare it with Toby Foster at Breakfast podcast. There are few differences between my and his podcast for e.g environment. As I said before, I did not like his podcast environment because sometimes it sounds that he is very close to microphone, also you can hear some sounds in background different than in my.
I like my podcast, I like the way I used fades and compressions. I also happy that, my voice sounds equal in all bits, I am not moving far away or very close to microphone. Every time I tried to keep the same distance between me and microphone. In my opinion, my podcast sounds good and sound levels are good as well.
My running order that I planned before I recorded my podcast went really well, it was almost perfect. I though that it should be approximately 5min and it is 5.40 min, so in my opinion I planned my running order almost perfect.
